NOTE In place of the unofficial associate membership in the Rutgers chapter of ODE, we are creating a new organization, the Rutgers Economics Society (RES), with much of the same benefits, activities and rewards as associate membership in ODE, but without the potential conflict with the national ODE. Former associate ODE members will become full members of RES.
The Rutgers Economics Society (RES) was established in 2015 to provide an enhanced opportunity for students of all majors interested in economics, to expand their interest, knowledge, skills, and career planning while interacting with each other, faculty, alumni and distinguished outside speakers. There are no requirements for membership beyond being a student at Rutgers in Piscataway/New Brunswick and an interest in economics and economic issues, and a desire to develop greater understanding, skills and networks. Membership in RES will replace the unofficial associate membership in ODE, the International Economics Honor Society. RES members will be able to apply for full ODE membership once they meet the requirements (see the Rutgers ODE web site for more information https://econweb.rutgers.edu/sheflin/ode.html). Full members in ODE will automatically have membership status in RES.
